Loved the game couldnt figure out how to finish it. if anyone has any hints, do lmk so I can go back and finish it :) but very well made game from what i played! keep it up! here my gameplay if anyone wanna watch.
Hey, Thanks for playing. If you stand in front of the blue square, looking into the room, the objects will become clear and dialogue will start. You'll be able to progress the game that way.
We're currently working on Quality of Life fixes so we'll address this too. Thank you!
Cool thank! played till the end and I love it! keep it up! Idk if it helps but maybe for the blue square it makes a sound when you look in the right spot or hint if you stay there too long not doing anything. just making suggestions lol but here's the 2nt part if anyone wanna watch!
great game so far! cant wait for the full thing :)
Hi, the old one is in the description. This is the new demo about No Players Online. I appreciated this one either. But the old, classic No Players Online ( on video description) is harder to solve the puzzles.
I'm very interested in this game, but I don't know if I have it in me to play another 90s tech style analogue horror game where the husband is abusing his wife, or there's some kind of domestic abuse. I think it's just the lowest hanging fruit, and there's so many other more interesting stories to tell. I can only hope that this isn't the plot that you're aiming for, but if it is, I may just have to skip this even if it's a very interesting mechanic.
I think the visuals in this demo were so phenomenal, and you all have a really cool idea on your hands otherwise. Great work.
hey! thank you for checking out the demo :) i understand you concern! we want to write a nuanced story, and while we are still leaving things up to interpretation, we are writing a story primarily about a relationship, with themes of grief. we don't plan to write a story that's about a husband abusing his wife.
That’s good to hear. The demo has a lot of themes that seem like domestic abuse. If that’s not intended, I’d suggest you be more cognizant that if you’re writing a story about a male game developer and his wife is prominently shown and they are fighting, it could seem like domestic abuse, even if there are happy moments shown.
I understand relationships have many aspects and as someone who writes games with horror/nuanced interpersonal stories, I know it’s a hard line to walk. But it would be a shame to have such a cool concept ruined by “the sadness in this story is domestic abuse” when you could tell so, so many relationship stories that don’t have that kind of violence and that can still be horror themed.
just finished the demo, wow that was absolutely fantastic! i love love all the little tricks here that work to make the player just a little uneasy. to be totally honest, i thought for a moment that the weather widget was linked to my personal location, lol. so creepy. 100% going to grab this when its finished! this team always does such great work.
What an excellent game. Reminds me of a really weird one called The Agony Of A Dying MMO. If you haven't played that, I highly suggest it. Anyway, really loved it!
never played the original but saw some gameplays of it, but this was really brilliant the whole investigating a old computer thing was brilliant really enjoyed that and got pretty carried away looking for secret instead of actually playing the intended game, i found some interesting bits of dialog but was there anything of value in all of the games like mine friend because i spent so long playing them and particularly minefriend when completed there was nothing haha regardless i cant wait intill full release amazing work!
No Players Online has become one of my favorite games in the genre and, with this new update, the focus on the plot has become even more interesting. Congratulations! COMPLETE DEMO HERE:
Hey, Windows Defender might flag the game as a virus but we can assure you it isn't! You can also try the demo on steam, you should be able to launch it without issue there.
This updated version of the game was really cool I liked it very much and I found it very enjoyable and the updated graphics were super cool too! keep up the good work!
This new demo does an amazing job of literally mashing up genres and gameplay mechanics and paying homage to the weird old days of AOL, Netscape, and dial-up internet. I was surprised by the amount of depth added beyond the original "No Players Online" game. In the demo, I loved that I wasn't simply stumbling into an eccentric game developer's ill-advised experiment but that there was a mystery to solve and, yes, more ill-advised experiments to conduct.
Great work on this! I'm looking forward to the full release on Steam!
Is there any way to do a complete wipe of game data? All that deleting your save file does is just wipes all 'story' progress up to that point, but it keeps all files downloaded, including the friend that you get early in the demo.
Despite that, I am really looking forward to this!
John's account gives you access to a number of games to download and play. The documentation for the "soul transfer" app gives you tips on what you can put in those empty source slots. The solution isn't obvious but the result is satisfying...and the connotations are kind of hilarious.
The empty fields take two games with compatible "souls." The games will combine into something new and the originals will disappear. Once you have that new thing, run it to continue.
I got one together, played through it, closed the game to take a small break, and upon reopening, the game is gone. Don't know what I was supposed to get out of that game tho
Hmm...the new game is supposed to disappear when you complete it, but it leaves an object behind on the desktop that you need to complete the next task. If it doesn't, you may have encountered a bug.
Try entering the characters you see as your password. I got an error. After restarting, John's password was fine. To see all the characters, try moving the password or settings window
Next...I've only gotten to the point so far where I need to go through the Minefriend game. Open up Soul Transfer and link the games. Including the ones you downloaded before.
This seriously might just be a contender for my favorite horror game of all time. I just got finished playing the demo, and I was fully IMMERESED in every second of it, from the creative concepts to the excellent scares.
You guys knocked it out of the park with this one, can't wait for the full release!!
I was really impressed by the meta-gameplay in this demo. If you get stuck, it's entirely possible to just keep playing the demo as a sort of overcomplicated emulator for "Fishing With Knives II"!
It's from Windows Defender, I got the same warning when I downloaded the game and it was deleted. Maybe this was dumb but I just downloaded the file again and it didn't get flagged. Apparently Wactac.B!ml is a machine learning virus detector, so it could be a false positive.

Absolutely amazing. You guys knocked it out of the park. Can’t wait for the full version! Here’s my No Commentary playthrough:
Love the minigames. No Players Online is complete.
This was amazing! It felt like it not only captured the joy and fear of the original but gave it a different life! I love it and can't wait for more!

Thank you for listening to my feedback!
Wow it has been such a long time since I knew this work on social media!!!and you are still staying!
I'm getting a virus notice on Chrome when I try to download it.
dude, that jpeg compression shader is fantastic.
I'm a bit confused about the alien: isolation computer sounds being in the background for the desktop part though.

Genuinely the best demo I've ever played
such an amazing demo! cant wait for a longer game!
What an excellent game. Reminds me of a really weird one called The Agony Of A Dying MMO. If you haven't played that, I highly suggest it. Anyway, really loved it!

Same here. Such a shame cause I REALLY wanted to play this gam
Try downloading the demo through Steam. It shouldn't get blocked there! :)
Thank you very much - I'll try tha
You should be able to download the demo on Steam as well without antivirus stopping it.
A very atmospheric horror game. Great update.
anyone know what to do with the minesweeper/killing fish game combo? i get to the bottom and just die
I remember this game from Roblox is not there anymore.
This horror game officially gets five free stars from me even though it's still in development

Thank you for the assistance, it worked!
<3
YEAH BABYYY THAT'S WHAT I'vE BEEN WAITING FOR
Will the original 2019 version of No Players Online still be available?
https://papercookies.itch.io/no-players-online-classic
How did you get there? I'm stuck in John's profile and I don't know what to do.
how did you get here? Please I need to know I’m stuck on John’s profile.
Look for the "frames"
John's account gives you access to a number of games to download and play. The documentation for the "soul transfer" app gives you tips on what you can put in those empty source slots. The solution isn't obvious but the result is satisfying...and the connotations are kind of hilarious.
still stuck, argh

Impressive HUGE update.
hey so... stuck at John's profile, I don't know where to go from there. Already looked at the forums and the other stuff.
Try entering the characters you see as your password. I got an error. After restarting, John's password was fine. To see all the characters, try moving the password or settings window
I already got the password correct, i was asking what to do beyond it.
Next...I've only gotten to the point so far where I need to go through the Minefriend game. Open up Soul Transfer and link the games. Including the ones you downloaded before.
yea I got a compatible game combined, when I completed it I took a small break so I closed the game.
the game is gone. Now I don’t know what to do after.
And I'm still not sure what to do next..... The dialog there gives some answers, but it doesn't give them to me...
I'm missing the game, too, by the way.....
This seriously might just be a contender for my favorite horror game of all time. I just got finished playing the demo, and I was fully IMMERESED in every second of it, from the creative concepts to the excellent scares.

its been an hour since i started playing and i'm just playing the mine sweeper and looking around the forum lmao
I was really impressed by the meta-gameplay in this demo. If you get stuck, it's entirely possible to just keep playing the demo as a sort of overcomplicated emulator for "Fishing With Knives II"!
what's up with that?
where did you run into this? I don't know what I'm looking at :-)
It's from Windows Defender, I got the same warning when I downloaded the game and it was deleted. Maybe this was dumb but I just downloaded the file again and it didn't get flagged. Apparently Wactac.B!ml is a machine learning virus detector, so it could be a false positive.
it shows exactly where i ran into this, windows defender flags your game as a virus.
all comments above this one are about the new game!
